The Uses For Real Time PCR Kit

By Claudine MacDonald

Getting a real time PCR kit would mean a lot of things for those who are into molecular biology. The process of polymerase chain reaction in biochemical technology involves the process of amplifying DNA and RNA. This will generate several million copies of a given DNA sequence for various uses.

It was Kary Mullis in 1983 who developed this technique. PCR then became a very important technique that is used for many laboratories that deal on medical research and biology. This could also be used to study the genetic functions, DNA phylogeny or DNA doning. This also helps in detecting some infectious diseases, hereditary diseases or in identifying fingerprints of the genes.

The amplification of samples of any DNA region is done through a process that will conduct selective isolation of DNA. This is very useful in hybridization for instance. Through DNA doning though larger samples would be necessary for replication. Nonetheless, the technique of polymerase chain reaction can be done through kits available which cater to both small and large samples.

DNA sequencing is another process where the technique is primarily used. The Sanger sequencing helps in determining some sequences through the process of amplification. By expediting technologies for recombinant DNA, isolating the DNA sequence becomes possible. The process would also involve inserting the sequence into the genetic material or the sample organism's plasmid to replicate.

Rapid screening of the bacterial colonies is also done through the use of process. The aim is to get the right DNA vector constructs. This is very important in fingerprinting as a forensic technique. It would be the best way to identify organisms or people by comparing the experimental DNA gathered.

There are some methods that would provide for high discriminative power. This is used to identify the genetic relationships of individuals like that of parents and children or siblings. This is a process that also applies for paternity testing where a party asks for verification of a child's paternity.

Since the process amplifies the regions of DNA that it will target, it can be utilized for the analysis of small samples. Such is a very important consideration especially with forensic analysis. Most of the time, this method is used when just a trace amount of DNA is found for the sample.

DNA which are recovered and dates back from thousands of years ago could also be analyzed through the process. Identifying the genetic make-up of mammoths for instance, has been done through the process. This same thing was applied for the mummies of Egypt and other human samples.

Diagnosing some diseases such as malignant lymphomas or leukemia can also use real time PCR kit. It is very effective to use the technique in cancer research especially the ones that are highly-developed. It would also help to have the conditions that will detect translocated malignant cells. It is through the kit that the conditions are identified and diagnosed. It also helps a lot to get the processes properly assessed and treated. Because of it, diseases and cases are solved and treated.
